Combined hepatitis A & B vaccine 720 ELISA u
Indications/Uses
Non-immune adults & adolescents ≥16 yr who are at risk of both hepatitis A & B infection.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM Adult & adolescent ≥16 yr 1 mL. 3-doses standard primary course of vaccination: 1st is administered at the elected date, then 2nd is 1 mth later & 3rd is 6 mth after the 1st dose. A schedule of 3 inj may be given at 0, 7 & 21 days & a 4th dose given 12 mth after the 1st dose in exceptional circumstances. Booster dose May be administered a booster dose of either of the monovalent hepatitis A or B vaccines.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to inactivated hepatitis A & rDNA hepatitis B vaccine, or subjects showing signs of hypersensitivity after previous administration of Twinrix Adult or the monovalent hepatitis A or hepatitis B vaccines.
Special Precautions
Postpone vaccination in patients w/ acute severe febrile illness. Syncope & rare anaphylactic reaction may occur. Not recommended for postexposure prophylaxis (eg, needle stick injury). Consider additional doses in patients w/ impaired immunity, on hemodialysis & w/ an impaired immune system. Administer SC to patients w/ thrombocytopenia or bleeding disorders. Do not administer IV. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Headache; pain & redness at the inj site, fatigue. GI symptoms eg, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting; swelling at inj site, inj site reaction, malaise.
Drug Interactions
May lower antibody titres w/ specific Ig. Immunosuppressants.
